The European Economic Area is made up of Countries associated with, but not part of the European Union.
Together, these countries form the European Free Trade Association (EFTA). They came into been in 1994.
The purpose for setting this organisation up is to encourage and promote free trade within the region. Any European Economic Area national can immigrate to other such country of their choice without the need for travel visa, just like within the EU
They are guided by the rule of four freedoms
• Free movement of Goods
• Free movement of services
• Free movement of capital
• Free movement of persons.
A family member of any European Economic Area national authomatically enjoys the same rights as those in the United Kingdom , and indeed any of the other member states. They can jet jobs in the UK, live and move freely.
