Are you aged between 17 and 30 years of age?

Are you from one of the commonwealth countries or one of the British dependant Territories? If you want to come to the UK to work, then you can do that for 12months. You may apply for the UK working holidaymaker program.

What Is Working Holidaymaker Scheme?

UK working holidaymaker visa scheme is a program put in place to allow citizens of the Commonwealth and British Dependant Territories to be able to come to the UK on an holiday, but still able to work.

How Do I Qualify

To qualify to apply for the program, first using the above link, check if your country is listed.

You must be between 17 and 30 years of age inclusive. You will obviously need your birth certificate to verify this.

You should be proceeding on holiday. The Holiday to the UK should be the primary reason you are travelling, and not just to work. This will mean that you may show the immigration officers evidence that you are just going on holiday.

A letter from your place of employment would be very useful, or if you are self employed, evidence of your business. As the immigration puts it, the working should be incidental to your holiday.

You can only be granted up to 24 months on the working holidaymaker program Of this period, you are only legally allowed to work for a 12 months period.

You should also show evidence that you are able to accommodate and maintain yourself and any dependant with you without recourse to public funds.

You must not have been on a UK working holidaymaker visa before now.

You must also convince the authorities that you will leave the UK at the end of your stay.

What Jobs Can I Do?

As a UK working holidaymaker, you can do must jobs. You can work in voluntary positions, or practise other professions, except to work as a professional sport person.

What Happens At the End of 12 Months

At the end of 12 months, you have to stop work, but can remain in the UK for another 12 months if you so wish. If you are qualified to work in the Skills Shortage Professions, then you can get a work permit approved for you by an employer.

Another option for you would be to apply for the Highly Skilled Migrant Worker Program (HSMP).

If any of these are approved, then you can remain in the UK and continue to work
