You must deploy all your persuasive skills here, without boring the reader. Give real and relevant examples of achievements from your previous job or study, without sounding arrogant. Let him or her see why you are certainly the best man or woman for the job.

The Conclusion

You should end the covering letter on a thank you note for the readers time and consideration, and that you can be contacted on ...email, mobile, or above address. Also state that you will be looking for to hearing from them.

In summary, your covering letter must:

  • Never be more than a page long
  • Be addressed to a named recipient
  • Not start with boring introductions like "I hereby apply for"

  • Always be positive
  • Close by asking for an interview and thanking the recipient for his time and consideration
