What is the visa requirement for overseas nurses programme

by Mary
(Nigeria)

Hi, I am a qualified BNsc oversea nurse. Again, I have obtained the license to practice and have been practicing as a general nurse in my country, Nigeria since June 2010.

Recently I wrote the IELTS Exam and scored 7 point in each of the components. However, I know that I still have a lot of road to cross for me to get a visa into the UK to do the overseas nurses programme that would lead to my registration as a nurse in the UK.

my question is; having received a decision letter from nursing and midwifery council UK, what kind of visa can I apply for in order to migrate into the UK to do the overseas nurses programme and what necessary requirements do I need to meet to achieve the visa purpose?

I really need your help in this regards.

Thank you

Mary

Congrats, it looks like you've did a great job polishing your English language skills. Keep up this amazing job and good luck to you. Just in case at a certain point you lack time for your academic papers, remember that you can always pay for a research paper.

REQUIRED VISA
by: Anonymous

Hi Mary, U will need to obtain tier 2 visa. This involves getting a job with an employer here in the UK who is ready and eligible to hire foreign nurses.

Such offers are really difficult to get. Alternatively, you could apply for a student or tier 4 visa to come over. It could give you the opportunity of doing ONP but you will have to check with any school that is admitting you if they would permit you to do ONP with a tier 4 visa.

However, u will pay so much money to go to school here. Sadly the UK intentionally tightened conditions making it difficult for you foreign nurses to come in.

I must confess, the standards they have set for you foreign nurses to achieve is even beyond the reach of UK and EU nurses whose jobs the UK wants to protect.

You could look elsewhere. You may not enjoy coming here, to be honest with you. Good luck.
