SoftDesign Services (SDS) is the software provision and support division of a full-function IT/comms service provider.
Based in Greenwich, London SE10, the company has substantial expertise in Microsoft and other technologies and is investing heavily in new product development.
SDS has a UK customer-facing presence (support, installation, commissioning and training) and a development capability in India; this allows the delivery of highly cost-effective solutions within our areas of expertise.
The Customer Response Team is currently seeking a Customer Support Tier 1 Intern. The Intern’s primary function will be to effectively support SDS applications for both internal and external customers. This will be a full-time, internship in our Greenwich office.
Successful completion of the internship is likely to result in a full-time position.
Reporting to the Development and Delivery Manager, the successful candidate will have exposure to the whole process of pre-sales, implementation and delivery – and after-sales support. It is expected that they will rapidly become proficient in our technologies. Initial areas of working will be office-based and client-facing.
The intern will need to learn to understand customer issues. Respond to customer inquiries in a timely manner and within service level objectives.
Respond to customers' enquiries
relating to information, product functionality and fault calls. Filter and escalate enquiries and handover to the appropriate department to help in resolving them.
Qualification and Skill Requirements
• Have a degree in an IT-related discipline
• Strong Analytical, Problem solving, Interpersonal & Communication skills.
• Student must have awareness of the PC Industry’s current and emerging technology trends and direction, as well as a keen interest in computer-based information systems and technology
• Willingness to work in a complex environment & perform under stress.
• Be prepared to invest time and energy in learning new disciplines
Training will be provided, both in the technology and the necessary skills to meet the requirements.
No salary for the intern during the 6 month period, but all travel costs will be repaid in full. Performance will be reviewed /appraised during the internship.
Hours of work are 09:00 – 17:30 Monday to Friday with 1 hour for lunch. Holiday entitlement is 20 days in a full year; days are accrued pro-rate based on the time worked.
The successful candidate should ideally be in a position to start by end-April, though other start dates may be considered for the perfect candidate.
