An alternative rankings of top world universities compiled by academics in at the Shanghai Jiao University in China did not include any university in Continental Europe amongst the top ten best universities in the world. Eight of the ten came from the USA and two from UK.

This report was very similar to that reported by the Times Higher Education Supplement, showing 7 universities from the USA and 2 from the UK as amongst the best 10 in the world. No wonder the UK remains a very very popular destination for higher education worldwide.
