Compares Your Foreign Qualification

UK Naric (United Kingdom National Recognition Information Centre) is the official body entrusted by the UK Government with the provision of information and advice on the comparability of international qualifications with those in the UK.

UK NARIC is able to compare qualifications from over 180 countries. Over 70,000 applications and inquiries are handled yearly from those wanting to understand how their foreign qualifications compare with those of the UK for job and study purposes. See how to apply.

To qualify for an employment in the UK, all foreign workers are required by law to have the right skills, qualifications and experience to function in the capacity in which they have applied.

This is even more so in specialized jobs like teaching, accounting, and other top professional jobs. UK NARIC should be the first point of call for anyone who holds a foreign qualification and wants to use such for work or study. It is a shame that some very qualified individuals come over to the UK, and are unable to get into job roles they are suited for because of been unable to demonstrate the equivalence of their overseas qualifications.

Teir 2 (formerly HSMP) visa applicants are increasingly required to show proof that their overseas qualifications would be acceptable here. You can now do so by contacting the UKNARIC.

Contacting UK NARIC

To compare your foreign qualifications, you need to send an application to the United Kingdom National Recognition Information Centre.

They are based in Cheltenham UK. For a small fee they will do the verification in a short time. You can contact hem by post or online.

You will need to provide the following if you chose to apply to Uk naric by post:

  1. A letter stating the kind of service you require of them. If it is to compare your qualification only, say so.

  2. Photocopies of your certificate

  3. Certified translation of your certificates if your qualifications were not obtained in English language.

If you are from any of the following countries, you do not need to send translated copies, as there is a waiver provision. Just send photocopies of your original qualifications.

An additional fee of £30.00 is payable for the translation waiver service, bringing the total payable fee to £77.55 plus VAT. The following is the list of countries enjoying the translation waiver facility:
